Rememory Ceremony 5.1: Travel and Mystery (With Emphasis on the Mustache)
The event was a success. Some of the highlightsinclude:
- The busride as ghosts wearing mustaches holding signs displaying portraits of people who attended the last years event.
- Our busdriver (Fred) was the same bus driver we had last year. He remembered us.
- At the bus stop on the way there we met this guy in a wheel chair who we all posed for a picture with.
- One of the participants (Bonnie) chose to hold the sign with Eliza Fernands's portrait. When I told her who whom she weilded Bonnie told me that she had been in email correspondence with Eliza about a possible show at the Sugar Gallery but had never met her before. We were trying to remember the name of the guy who used to own gallery five hundred (which became Sugar Gallery and moved to the Everett Lofts after the coke dealer, Eric Kellog II, bought it and ran it into the ground by hosting insane hip hop drug parties that got him evicted from the 500 space by police. The truth is he doesnt care about art, all he cares about is stroking his own ego. He power trips over hiring young attractive art girls as curators for his "gallery" who he then sexually harasses. My friend, Alicia Eggers, responded to an add for the curator position at Sugar a few months ago. Mr. Kellog took her out to dinner and explained to her that her duties at Sugar would include having sex with him. Eliza has confirmed these allegations as consistant with her experience with Mr. Kellog.
When Katy asher showed up she started talking about the M.O.S.T's Fan For A Day Project. One of their clients is Justin Oswald (Owner of Gallery 500) the one we were trying to think of previously.
The sun was beautiful as it set. It made even a truck stop seem magical.
